Bjornvarthr Wow, can't wait for the full album. Excellent folk metal! Favorite track: Labrynthian Graves.
Doug Gibson
Doug Gibson thumbnail
Doug Gibson Blackened guitar tones and growls offset the atmospheric pagan music and chanting to fabulous effect. I can't wait for a full-length effort! Favorite track: Banner Of Grief.
Alice M.
Alice M. thumbnail
Alice M. The vocalist from Seer + a guy that played live with them (according to Metal Archives), here with a more pagan / folk approach that still somehow reminds me of sludgy acts like Izah. Interesting to say the least. Favorite track: Banner Of Grief.
Angel Clare

Angel Clare Soaring vocals and earthy guitars conjure crackling fires, hoary trees, and vast open spaces. Evocative and expansive.
Arrogant Bastard

Arrogant Bastard What a find! This is a shifting slice of dark pagan metal from Boreal Hymn’s first demo incorporating dark growls, lofty vocals and evocative chants. Tundra’s use of the talharpa and other ancient Nordic instruments augment the resolute and driving rhythms reminiscent of doom or atmo-black metal. Colby Hink of Wormwitch is featured on the guitars, little wonder this is so good. Favorite track: Glimmer In The Umbra.

1.
The grim camaraderie of failed men and women Haunt the white plains of hell Labyrinthian graves A wretched span of killing and dying Still in the mud of the valley Guarded by gods above and below Cloaked in hide and banded-wood breast plate The Wardens of the Iron Helm Bound in hidden kinship they recite their vow: To cleanse the waters of history To fashion new civilization deemed decent and righteous To defend their right to suffer their own imperfections A song for those who slid lifeless down the blade Grand Fathers of Light Let the children drink freely from the cup of your palm Let the sanguine crystal hallways grant us fervour within As we walk upon the wind
2.
The world crowded close Round this meagre party The conceit of mortal life Begins and so must end But not tonight In the great well of the ancient god Guided by the light of borealis Phantom apparitions drink in the face of subconscious wraith The smoke of woodfire glimmers in the umbra an Icy fortress of blood and ages Midnight wolves Stalk the nights meal The wardens shed their iron and look to vertical depths Crumble not at the assault of revelation Stillness does not belong among the living 100 or more strides 100 more times He ye courage, o my brethren
3.
They raised a banner of grief Lamenting souls with more to come Where thousands had once flourished The bitterness of their last words ring low under turned earth Through the howling wind Their cries scything through the crags and rock They dream of finding and taking life With loved ones fragile in their eyes.
4.
Emerging from heavens vault Trumpeting high from foul corridors Along timeworn white cliffs The sun blooms in lurid mercy They shed the darkness of their spirits Careening down a narrow path walled in stone The stuttering herd thump proudly Writhing in willful ignorance Drifting a path begot But the sun blooms for now An earthly trespass transpired Defiance against the breath of gods Purge if not for a moment Tread on in desolate peace Where the earth meets the sky At the forest’s feet Spirit to guide us continue to be Far from youthful realms The dust settles in ravaged land They’ve learned of suffering And vow to forsake it all Now, with lightening in their hands Culled from the chaos Time is reborn from perilous skies
